Laser Whitening

Laser whitening is one of the most popular procedures in which the dental laser equipments are being used. More and more people are now turning to laser whitening to enhance the brightness of their teeth and to remove any discoloration and stains that have adhered to the surface due to some beverages and smoking.

Through the years, many dental procedures for teeth whitening use a bleaching solution that contains peroxide to remove the stains on the teeth's surface. With the growing use of laser in dental medicine, it was discovered that laser medical equipment could also contribute to the teeth whitening procedures.

To do this, the teeth are first cleaned by the dentist using the appropriate dental procedures. After this, a peroxide bleaching solution is applied onto the teeth. In the past, the peroxide is allowed to coat the surface of the teeth for some time to ensure maximum effects.

Today, this is where the use of laser in teeth whitening comes in. After the application of the peroxide solution, the teeth are exposed to the laser beam to activate the peroxide ions in the solution. Due to the activation of the peroxide ions, there is no longer a need to make the peroxide solution stay on the teeth for extended periods. The use of lasers in teeth whitening has speed up the whitening procedure. It has also enhanced the intensity of whiteness of the teeth. Of course, this procedure is only available at the dentist's office and not through the over-the-counter whitening treatment products.
