Laser orthodontics is the field of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of facial and dental irregularities. This condition is referred to as malocclusion or bad bite. This condition may be inherited or may also be caused by the crowding of teeth, missing teeth, too much space in between the teeth, and other irregularities of the teeth, jaw and face.

Laser orthodontics can correct the problems related to the mentioned conditions. It is best if the problem ahs been detected early as it is easier corrected during childhood. It will be less difficult for the laser orthodontist to correct the condition if the permanent teeth have not yet come in or the facial growth is not yet complete.

Crowding of the teeth is one of the problems treated by laser orthodontics. This may be due to a small dental arch or the teeth are large for the dental arch. This results to poor teeth alignment, poor bite and undesirable appearance.

The reverse is also a common problem for laser orthodontists. Too much spacing between the teeth may be due to too small teeth or because the dental arch is too wide for the teeth. While there are no physiologic problems that results from this, this results to poor appearance.

The open bite is another common problem is laser orthodontics. This is when the upper and lower teeth do not touch when you bite down. Because of this, the back teeth will experience chewing pressure resulting to tooth wear.
