Laser Bonding

Laser bonding is a cheap and popular dental treatment. In this dental treatment, resin is applied on the teeth and is hardened by a gadget where laser light is coursed through. Laser bonding is also fast and can be done on a single visit.

Most of the time, laser bonding is used as a cosmetic procedure to mask chipped or discolored teeth. Sometimes, it is also used to fill too much gaps between teeth or correct misshaped teeth. Laser bonding may also be used in place of amalgam fillings. In certain cases, it is a good option for protecting the teeth’s roots when gums have receded.

How is laser bonding done?

Laser bonding is generally an easy dental procedure. Under normal circumstances, anesthesia is unnecessary.

First of all, the dentist will select the resin that suits your teeth color. Once a color is selected, the dentist will then work on the problematic tooth or set of teeth. He/ she will first etch the problem area. This is to roughen up the tooth or set of teeth. Next, a conditioning liquid is applied. This liquid allows for better bonding once the resin is set on the tooth or set of teeth.

When the tooth or set of teeth is ready, the resin is applied and molded accordingly. The resin needs to follow the shape of the teeth. At the same, the resin also needs to be as smooth as the tooth or set of teeth. Once this is done, the laser gadget is used to harden the resin. To finish up the procedure, the dentist will shape and smoothen up the resin some more.
